Herbs Can Help Get Rid of Nail Fungus
By Max Wardlow
If you’ve experienced toenail or fingernail fungus, you know how embarrassing it can be, and how stubborn it is to get rid of. Herbs for nail fungus can help by supporting the body’s natural ability to maintain a balance of systemic Candida (yeast) levels, balance pH levels, and maintain healthy digestion and metabolism.
The biggest problem with this issue is addressing the internal imbalance that’s involved in the appearance of fungus under the nails. This condition often means that there is a systemic fungal infection, and low immune system function is the cause. By the time it manifests as nail fungus, the internal infection has been active for some time.
Of course, there are prescription medications for nail fungus; but they are notoriously hard on the liver, and can come with some unpleasant side effects. A natural, holistic approach to curing nail fungus involves strengthening the immune system and eliminating the internal fungal or yeast imbalance with herbs for nail fungus, and also treating the nails with a natural anti-fungal oil.
Pau d’arco bark is an herb known for its anti-fungal properties. This herb is also known for its potential to support antioxidants, and maintain healthy levels of bacteria in the digestive tract and throughout the body. Research studies have proven the fungus and bacteria growth-inhibiting effects of the inner bark of the pau d’arco tree.
The affected nails can also be treated directly with undiluted essential aromatherapy oils. Tea tree oil, lavender, and lemongrass essential oils support the health of the nail bed and healthy nail growth, as well as address common flakiness and discoloration of the nail.
Herbs for nail fungus can help to successfully eliminate the problem where merely using a topical remedy usually isn’t sufficient. The two-step approach of boosting the immune system, and using essential oils directly on the nails, will increase your chances of resolving the issue permanently.
