Scientific Studies on Reiki
Mikao Usui Reiki is cited in Hikkei Ryoho body and mind are one. Recent studies in the world of science are beginning finally understand that statement. The brain waves and pulse body and its role in promoting healing around now can be measured by the concept of Reiki, energy spiritual, more widely accepted by the medical community. The growth of the system of Reiki is given to this awareness and community acceptance.
The introduction of Therapeutic Touch by Dolores Krieger in nursing in the 1970s has increased interest in alternative energy systems such as Reiki. This has stimulated much research recently carried out using Reiki and other forms of energy work.
The Reiki system is also in hospitals worldwide. Patients often can not bring their Reiki practitioner or Reiki with them is available to them.
Article "The Reiki practitioner first in our O 'by Jeanette Sawyer in 1988 in the AORN Journal describes the steps that have been made to allow a Reiki practitioner in the theater, at the request of a patient during a laparoscopy.
Also in 1988, patients were given the opportunity of a test of 15 minutes before and after surgery treatment Reiki. More than 870 patients participated, and therefore there is less use of drugs against pain, shorter hospital stays and greater patient satisfaction. This has been discussed in the article, "Using Reiki to support surgical patients Aladydy by Patricia and Cristina in the Journal of Nursing Care Quality.
Heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz, has worked with Julie Motz who used Reiki on their patients. These patients had received heart transplants and were undergone open heart surgery. These 11 patients in total, and none of them had normal postoperative depression. The bypass patients had no postoperative pain or weak legs and transplant patients has not been the rejection of the organ. Julie Motz has written about this experience in his book, "Hands of Life".
The following are a series of trials tested Reiki. For future research there are more books of Reiki with relevant research materials, or observations personal, that were written by doctors and nurses. "Spiritual Healing" by Daniel J. Benor has listed a series of tests of Reiki and some very interesting essays on distant healing and healing through touch in general.
There are many aspects of Reiki that are being studied at present. Some consider that if Reiki accelerates healing others to see if, how and where to relax, biomagnetic field measuring and verifying the concept of distant healing.
Here is a completed trial known with Reiki to examine its effect on the blood of man.
The levels of human hemoglobin and Reiki: a physiological perspective Wetzel, Wendy (1989). Published in the Journal of Holistic Nursing 7 (1), 47-54.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of Reiki in human hemoglobin and hematocrit.
Procedure: Hemoglobin and hematocrit of 48 adults participating in a Level 1 course were measured. The demographics and motivation also examined. An untreated control group was used to document changes in hemoglobin and hematocrit in normal circumstances.
Conclusions: Using a t-test there was no statistically significant change between pre-and post-course and hemoglobin hematocrit levels of the participants in the level of P 0.01. 28% increases and others decrease. There was no change from untreated control group in an identical time of execution.
Conclusions: The Reiki has a measurable physiological effect. Data support the hypothesis that energy can be transferred between individuals for healing, balance and wellbeing growth. Some people have found that blood levels have increased, while others state that is consistent with the notion that Reiki is balance for each individual.
This essay Reiki test in patients with chronic diseases through electrodermal screening.
The effectiveness of Hands in Reiki healing: Improved adrenal function, spleen and nerve function quantified by Electro-dermal screening Betty and Barbara Hartwell Brewitt Published in Alternative Therapies Magazine, July 1997, vol. 3, No. 4, p. 89
Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the therapeutic effects of Reiki treatments on disease Chronic by electrodermal screening. Procedure: This study was performed in five patients and chronic fatal diseases: lupus, fibromyalgia, goiter thyroid, and multiple sclerosis. Eleven one-hour treatments using 4 different Reiki Level 2 Reiki practitioner and teacher has been carried out over a period of ten weeks. Reiki practitioners routinely get their hands on the position of the body itself, including cities in the skull neurovascular, neuro-points in the trunk and lower chakra points on the extremities. No conventional or alternative to new medical treatments were given during this period. Initially, there were three treatments consecutive treatment after week for eight weeks.
Conclusions: Patients were evaluated three times during the study. 1.Before the study began. 2.After his third treatment. Tenth 3.After treatment. Each individual was measured from the electrical resistance of the skin in three acupuncture points on the hands and feet. In point cervical / thoracic, the measures adopted by the 25% below normal to normal range. The adrenal measures to increase 8.3% below normal to normal – at some time between intermediate and final steps. Measurements of the rate rose by 7.8% below normal to normal after just three sessions. All patients had more relaxation after Reiki treatments, reduced pain and increased mobility.
These tests have to do with the effect of Reiki in relieving pain and other symptoms.
Pain, anxiety and depression in patients with chronic diseases Reiki Linda J. Dressen and Sangeeta Singge Published in the subtle energies and Energy Medicine Journal, vol. 9, No. 1: 1998
Objective: To measure the results of Reiki and its effects on pain, anxiety and depression in patients with chronic diseases.
Procedure: 120 patients who had been in pain for at least 1 year were drawn. Their complaints included headaches, heart disease, cancer, arthritis, peptic ulcer, asthma, hypertension and HIV. Four different styles of treatment is done in 3 groups of 20 persons. The 4 types of treatment were: Reiki, progressive muscle relaxation, no treatment and false Reiki. Each group received 10 treatments of thirty minutes twice a week for 5 weeks. Patients were examined before and after series of treatments. Reiki patients were examined 3 months after completion. Conclusions: Reiki was significantly higher (p.0001-04) with other treatments in 10 of 12 variables. Drawing 3 months until these changes were consistent and there were reductions very important in the Index Total Pain Rating (p.0006) and sensory (p.0003) and affective (p.02) qualities of pain.
Conclusion: The effects significant Reiki on anxiety, pain and depression are presented here. Some possible variables were not controlled.
Using Reiki to manage pain: A preliminary report alta.karino @ cancerboard.ab.ca Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton, USA Published in Cancer Prev Control 1997; 1 (2) :108-13
Objective: To examine the usefulness of Reiki as an alternative to opioid therapy in the treatment of pain. It is a pilot study.
Procedure: 20 volunteers experiencing pain at 55 sites for a variety of reasons, including cancer. A Level 2 Professional expected all Reiki treatments. Pain was measured using a visual analogue scale (VAS) and a Likert scale immediately before and after each Reiki treatment.
Conclusions: Both instruments showed a highly significant reduction (p 0.0001) reducing pain after Reiki treatments.
This essay is whether it is possible to measure the experience of Reiki treatment being tested using normal procedures.
Experience of a Reiki session Engebretson J, Wardell DW University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, USA Published in Alternative Therapies Health and Medicine. 8: 48-53, 2002
Objective: To explore the experiences of recipients of Reiki to contribute to understanding the popularity of touch therapies and possibly clear the variables for future studies.
Procedure: All Reiki treatments of 30 minutes and was conducted in a soundproof windows piece by a Reiki master. There were audio taped interviews immediately after treatment in a quiet room adjacent to the treatment room. Recipients were generally healthy volunteers who had not experienced Reiki before.
Conclusions: The winners have described a feeling of consciousness during treatment. At the same time, paradoxically, have been sensational and symbolic phenomena.
Conclusions: The knowledge and experience paradoxical that occur in healing ritual varies depending on the nature in general and individual variation in the experience of healing. These results suggest that many linear models used in research touch therapies are not complex enough to capture the experience of the beneficiaries.
This particular study is not specifically about Reiki, but to examine the efficacy of distant healing that are relevant to Reiki practitioners.
A randomized double-blind study of the effect of distant healing in a population with advanced AIDS Fred Sicher, Elisabeth Targ, Dan Moore II, and Helene.S. Smith Published in the Journal of Western Medicine, December 1998, vol. 169, pp. 356-363.
Objective: To study the effect of distance healing (DH) in AIDS patients during a six-month double-blind.
Procedure: Forty patients with advanced AIDS have been divided randomly into two groups. Half the patients received DH, in addition to usual medical care. Who were not informed DH was given. 40 curators from different parts of the United States with an average of 17 years of experience have been used. Traditional healers have practiced a variety of methods healing, including Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Native Americans, shamans, meditation and bioenergetics. Each of the subjects received for one hour DH day for six days from each of a total of ten healers, which took place over a period of ten weeks.
Results: After six months, patients had significantly fewer outpatient visits and hospitalizations, less severe, fewer new illnesses, and good humor.
